Lopaz process has mapped the “As-Is” New Product introduction process for the Global Product Introduction of a Swedish car manufacturer, across their two vehicle plants, as well as their Engine and Stamping plants. We produced a “Way Forward” report to help improve major KPI for new vehicle builds into production, having identified numerous savings and reduction of lead time whilst working closely with the client staff.
The work was initiated by carrying out several workshops which aimed to enlighten the client about the power of “Value Stream Mapping” used to grasp the current situation and to make a direct comparison against their own Global Product introduction process. The mapping process was carried out using input from all the key stakeholders in the business and at several levels of the organisation to test understanding and allow a great amount of detail to be collected on route.
For any successful engagement it is important to get the correct buy-in and understanding from the client, it is also important to draw out the necessary detail in order to fully understand the process being studied and the everyday constraints that have to be endured. These Issues and Opportunities are key to developing a “future state” of what the operation should look like "Best Practice" and allow a detailed improvement plan or “Master Schedule” to be produced with the client.
